How To Get Organized

Steps To Organization:

1. Make a list of everything you need to accomplish.
   This is where you gather all the puzzle pieces in one big pile.

2. Group the items into categories based on topic or type of task.
   This is where you make separate piles for sky pieces, grass pieces, etc.

3. Flesh out your list -- Add steps to be taken, resources needed, and deadlines.
   This is where you begin assembling small sections of the puzzle and noticing the pieces you forgot.
   • Don't let those low-urgency-but-still-important tasks slip through the cracks.

4. Block out time to work on different projects.
   Lay out the partially-assembled sections and begin to see the picture as a whole.
   • FIRST THING EACH WEEK: Make a list of open projects and mark the ones you hope to accomplish this week.

   • FIRST THING EACH DAY: Review the weekly list and select Target Items to tackle today.

   • Be sure to keep the appointments with yourself so that you won't feel 'stood up'.

5. START WORKING !!!
   • Don't forget to gather the resources you need before you begin, preventing needless delays.

   • Feel the accomplishment as you strike things off your list -- Hear the crowd cheer.

Reward yourself for making the effort to get organized
-- it is an investment in time that is sure to have great returns.
